Boris Johnson and the UK Government will remove coronavirus restrictions on July 19 including the requirement to wear face masks on public transport. However, Wales First Minister Mark Drakeford told BBC Breakfast that the moment members of the public enter his country Welsh rules will apply.
The BBC’s Naga Munchetty said: “If someone travels on a train from England into Wales, it will not be law to wear a face-covering in England.
“Is the expectation and will it be policied that they then put on a face covering when they enter Wales?”
Mr Drakeford replied: “Definitely, the law in Wales will require that to happen.
“The people who run the transport system will make sure that people are aware that as they come into Wales different rules apply.
“If you travel into Wales by road now you will see signs that say Welsh rules apply.
“Here in Wales the rules will be clear, it is not advice it is what the law requires.”
