Epic Games has promised a big patch will be arriving later today that will be available to download after game maintenance is completed.
Fortnite update 18.10 is launching today and is expected to be one of the most significant patches so far for Season 8.
Epic Games has warned before shutting down servers that today’s patch will be bigger on some platforms as part of its usual announcement.
Offering just a snippet of information when it comes to what will be included, the Fortnite support team has confirmed that this week’s update will be large for those playing on Xbox and Nintendo platforms.
They have also told gamers that its next patch will “bring the heat”, which could mean a new item or map change is being planned.
The new Chug Splash recovery item is expected to make its debut early during Season 8 and allow gamers to heal 20 health while also providing a speed boost.
This is expected to have some kind of spicy tagline, which likely means it will be arriving today as part of the new patch.
Epic Games has also confirmed that important background tweaks are also being made to make the XP system run smoothly.
An earlier message from the game’s support team reads: “We’ve noticed that XP gained in Battle Royale this season isn’t where we’d like it to be and are making a variety of improvements.
“We’ll update everyone on 9/28 with the changes we’re making. Thanks for playing Season 8.”
WHEN IS FORTNITE DOWNTIME FOR UPDATE 17.21 STARTING?
The Fortnite server downtime scheduled for today has been set to start at 9:00am BST on Tuesday, August 3, 2021.
For gamers in the United States, this will mean maintenance starting at 4:00am EDT on the same day.
No one should be left waiting for the servers to come back as all platforms will return online at the same time.
Gamers have also been warned that servers will start shutting down 30 minutes before the designated maintenance period.
And while Epic Games has not provided an exact time servers will be back online, they have confirmed how long it could last.
The Epic Games site has put a limit of four hours on today’s maintenance, meaning Fortnite servers could be down until 1pm BST.
However, this is the maximum length and downtime is expected to last a much shorter period.
A message from Epic Games adds: “The Fortnite v18.10 update releases on September 28. In preparation for the update, downtime will begin at approx 04:00 AM ET (08:00 UTC). Matchmaking will be disabled at approx. 03:30 AM ET (07:30 UTC).
“Please note that the patch size will be larger than normal on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch.”
More news, including official patch notes, are expected to be shared during today’s Fortnite maintenance.
